Welcome to Elder Eagles

Our Statement

We are here to help bring affordable meals and food to Elders North of 60!

We are only serving seniors that are on Nutrition North Subsidy Year Round with this program.

You still have access to the GP2U website year round for affordable grocery shopping.

ELDER EAGLES

Our Vision

Elder Eagles recognizes the many challenges that most seniors are experiencing everyday.

It is virtually impossible for the elderly on their limited incomes to afford most groceries due to rising living costs. Grocery options are limited and rely on established grocery suppliers that place yearly profits in front of people they serve.

The solution is implementing an outreach that focuses on making available sustainable nutritional programs for elderly people of remote communities North of the 60th Parallel.

Seniors in need of foodbank supplies and other essential groceries can find solutions for their basic needs.

The Polaris Pantry has created a program for seniors of remote northern communities called Elder Eagles. Elder Eagles focuses on creative ideas and opportunities that support the various interests and needs for the elderly. The Craft Night Wood Whittling program creates a comfortable environment in a space where elders can get together once a week to socialize with each other and create things from wood.  This Wood Whittling program meets weekly for a month to learn and do some wood whittling and get together with like minded seniors. There will be books provided on how to whittle and simple ideas on things to create. The program provides the tools and supplies to complete the crafts. And the program will also provide coffee, tea and snacks.

We are here to encourage elders to get active and enjoy making some crafts to keep for themselves or gift to others.

All interested communities please contact Polaris Pantry for enrollment details. High Arctic communities will receive priority consideration due to logistical challenges.

Polaris Pantry’s Elder Eagles Project aims to empower seniors in Northern Communities by providing a weekly get together to prepare and cook provided food supplies.  Mealtime Program is an opportunity that promotes seniors to plan and make their own dinners with other seniors.  Elders should be valued in their communities and more programs for seniors betters their quality of life.  Elder Eagles would like to make it possible for seniors to cook food together on a weekly basis. Afterwards then can sit, socialize and enjoy their home-made dinners, they will be able make enough food so they can take leftovers home to be frozen or eaten the next day. We hope this Program helps the quality of life for Elders in communities experiencing daily food insecurity.

The Family Tree program aims to give elders in participating communities an opportunity to make their family tree as a keepsake or display. The family trees are something they make or create with photos, art, pics or any relevant historical memorabilia. We are hoping eligible communities might have extra space for this program for participating elders to draw, create and display their completed trees. This activity is another way that elders can get together anytime they want work on their tree. This program gives elders something to pass on to their younger generation, that shows their family lineage and ancestry. As for people deceased, they could be termed as passed away. We would supply papers, pens, printer and stationery to start this process, as well as paint and brushes if the elders were to paint their trees on a wall or canvas.  We would supply everything needed for a beautiful wall or canvas Meral.

Please reach out to Polaris Pantry if you wish you community to be considered for this interesting program. High Arctic communities will receive priority consideration to receive this program.
